From Discipline to Desire: Rewriting Your Relationship with Play

From Discipline to Desire: Rewriting Your Relationship with Play

Magic School Lesson: Nervous System Magic 101

Discipline got you here and, my dedicated student, desire will take you further.

I used to be the Queen of Consistency. Every goal had a routine. Every day was structured. The gym, the hustle, the schedule. I loooove structure and routine.

But the body doesn’t run on control. It runs on rhythm. Pleasure. Pulse. Presence. Flow. Balance. Cycles.

One day, I felt the usual pull to go to the gym—but my body said no. Not out of fear or resistance. She wanted to play. Ride a bike. Feel the sun. Let go.

It felt irresponsible at first. Unproductive. But you know what? Turns out that spontaneous bike ride was an expression of deep joy.

I made a decision aligned with my soul, not my program. So grateful I did. I was glowing for hours afterwards.

Play isn’t frivolous. It’s sacred. It recalibrates your nervous system to safety, spontaneity, and sensuality.

So if you’re clinging to routine out of fear, loosen the grip.

Today’s Practice:

  • Choose one playful thing instead of one rigid task
  • Let joy lead your decision making
  • Notice how your body responds
  • How does your breath shift?
